The inspiration for the group of fabrics in this 2001 “Lace Collection” came from rustic white cotton lace, grass and summer. By stitching over cotton fabric with polyester thread and burning out the base fabric with chemicals, I was able to experiment with different patterns and achieve a high degree of airiness, making the fabric seem fragile, almost falling apart.
